About

Become a Planet Detective and help six crewmates find somewhere to live for thirty days. Launch your rocket, steer through a scrolling star system, and follow unexplored signals on the mini map. Visit six animated worlds, from icy Frostbite to mysterious Murk. Send out a probe, inspect clues about air, water, temperature, food, shelter and energy, then question a tempting claim. Log each investigation to stamp your map. Compare the worlds, arrange your ranking, and choose four survival modules within a power budget. Use your collected evidence to explain your recommendation and discuss the practical trade offs with your class.

Learning outcomes

Players learn to distinguish observations from assumptions, interpret measurements of atmospheric composition and temperature, connect water states with treatment needs, identify requirements for human survival, compare environmental hazards, recognise that unfamiliar organisms are not proven food, connect life support equipment with energy demand, select equipment within constraints, revise unsupported choices using feedback, and justify a planetary ranking with evidence. Designed for Year 7 science, the game brings together habitats, states of matter, mixtures, environmental conditions and scientific reasoning. Fictional worlds provide contrasting cases rather than predictions about real planets. Teachers assess explanations through discussion; automated checks assess equipment and power.
